How We Design a Scentoria Fragrance
Go behind the scenes of our candle creation process. From inspiration to final pour, discover what makes a Scentoria scent unforgettable.

# How We Design a Scentoria Fragrance
Every Scentoria candle starts the same way: with a memory.
Not a formula. Not a trend. A memory.
## Step 1: The Spark
For **Riad at Night**, it was a specific evening in Marrakech. The air thick with jasmine. The sound of fountains. The feeling of being held by a space.
For **Atlas Retreat**, it was the shock of cold mountain air after days in the desert heat.
We don't design scents to "smell good." We design them to *feel like something*.
## Step 2: The Notes
Once we have the memory, we build the structure:
### Top Notes (First 15 minutes)
The introduction. The first impression. Often bright, fresh, fleeting.
### Heart Notes (The Soul)
The main character. What you smell most. The reason you bought the candle.
### Base Notes (The Foundation)
The depth. What lingers after the flame is out. Often woody, musky, resinous.
Example: **Amber Souk**
- Top: Saffron (immediate, exotic)
- Heart: Rose + Smoke (the soul, the mystery)
- Base: Oud + Amber (the lasting warmth)
## Step 3: Testing (The Hardest Part)
We test each blend dozens of times. We burn it in different rooms, at different times of day, in different seasons. We ask:
- Does it *feel* like the memory?
- Does it work in small spaces? Large ones?
- Does it overwhelm or underwhelm?
Most blends don't make it past this stage.
## Step 4: The Wax
We use a blend of natural waxes chosen for:
- **Clean burn** (no soot, no smoke)
- **Scent throw** (fills a room without shouting)
- **Longevity** (burns slowly, evenly)
This isn't a detail. It's everything. A beautiful scent in a bad wax = a bad candle.
## Step 5: The Name
Names matter. They set the expectation, the mood, the story. We choose names that evoke *place* and *feeling*—not generic spa words.
**Café Matin** isn't "Vanilla Coffee Candle."
**Riad at Night** isn't "Floral Blend #3."
## Step 6: You
The final step isn't ours—it's yours. You light the candle. You add your own memory. And the scent becomes something new.
That's the magic.
